Tarie Nelson

Tarie Nelson is the Executive Assistant at the Louisiana Disaster Recovery Foundation. She plays an integral role to LDRF's ability to effectively fulfill its mission. Tarie is the assistant to the President and CEO of the foundation. In this position, she is responsible for facilitating all office operations.

Tarie has a well-rounded background in human resources, training, safety, operations and consumer affairs. She has more than 5 years of experience as an Executive Assistant. She served as Executive Assistant to the General Manager of Marriott Hotels. There she continued to gain excellent experience developing and implementing a variety of corporate programs, including those that must comply with corporate, state and federal agency guidelines. She developed yearly budgetary forecasts departments and ensured that forecasts met corporate guidelines. She served on a team that created short- and long-term department objectives in accordance with company goals. Tarie also continued to increase her level of experience in office management. She managed communications and correspondence, scheduling and coordinating meetings, travel arrangements and performing other general administrative duties.

As a Louisiana native, Tarie is committed to support LDRF's work to provide relief, recovery and betterment of its people and communities. She is excited about the opportunity given to her to join an organization that contributes significantly to its mission to help rebuild areas of Louisiana that were devastated by hurricanes Katrina and Rita.

Tarie is the youngest of eleven children born to Sadie and Ivory Nelson Sr. She attended Tara High School in Baton Rouge Louisiana, where she obtained her high school diploma and graduated with honors. She attended college at the University of Southwestern Louisiana in Lafayette Louisiana. She graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Business Management and GPA of 3.5.
