LDRF to release "A Portrait of Louisiana: Louisiana Human Development Report," 10:00 am at Gallier Hall on Thursday, Sept. 17. Published in partnership with Oxfam America and the Foundation for the Mid South, the Louisiana Human Development report offers a parish-by-parish of quality of life indicators such as income, life span, housing, infant mortality, homicide rates and others. The report will provide a much-needed tool for government, philanthropy and advocates seeking to provide data-driven solutions to Louisiana's most pressing problems. LDRF grant supports development of innovative, environmentally conscious private and public gardens in New Orlean's 9th ward. In partnership with the Make It Right Foundation, the Lower 9th Ward Center for Sustainable Engagement and Development, the American Society of Landscape Architecture and others, LDRF is implementing green spaces in the 9th ward that use native species and innovative materials to detoxify the soil and manage drainage, as well as be aesthetically pleasing.
LDRF grant leverages $1.1M for independent fisheries in Cameron Parish. LDRF's support of the Gulf Coast Fisheries Cooperative(GCFC) procured generators, storage and cooling space, nets and safety training required to leverage $1.1M in Community Development Block Grant funds from the LRA.
